Sony Pictures Networks India (SPNI) has marked its 31st anniversary with the launch of Chapter 31, outlining a new phase for the broadcaster built around three key pillars — a new office, a new vision and new shows.
“A new chapter begins, and we couldn’t be more excited!” the company said in its anniversary message, highlighting its plans to evolve with changing audience habits and the wider entertainment landscape.
Reflecting on its journey, SPNI said, “For over three decades, Sony Pictures Networks India has been part of India’s entertainment journey, bringing people together through memorable stories, beloved shows and unforgettable sporting moments.”
The media company has built a strong presence across entertainment and sports, with its portfolio spanning television content and major sporting properties.
According to the company, the next phase will focus on changing audience behaviour as viewers increasingly consume entertainment across screens, platforms and languages.
“Today, as audiences discover entertainment across new screens, platforms and languages, we’re evolving with them,” SPNI said, adding that the company is entering the new chapter with a renewed vision and new opportunities.
The anniversary creative outlines the three pillars of Chapter 31. The first is “a new home, a new beginning”, referring to the broadcaster’s new office. The second is a new vision centred on “content-first, platform agnostic, multi-lingual entertainment”. The third is new shows, with a focus on “fresh ideas, unforgettable moments.”
The company also acknowledged the employees, partners and viewers who have been part of its journey.
“To everyone who has helped shape SPNI over the last 31 years, thank you for being part of our story,” it said.
The positioning around “content-first, platform agnostic, multi-lingual entertainment” points to SPNI’s broader approach to a fragmented viewing ecosystem.
Content-first places programming at the centre, while platform agnostic reflects the need to reach audiences across television and digital platforms. The multi-lingual focus also underlines the importance of catering to India’s diverse language markets.
With its established entertainment portfolio, sports properties and three decades of brand equity, Chapter 31 represents SPNI’s attempt to build on that foundation while adapting to how audiences discover and consume content today.
The company closed its anniversary message with the line: “Here’s to Chapter 31 and the many possibilities it holds!”
