The Season 3 trailer of the critically acclaimed comedy series ‘Shrinking’ has been released, offering viewers a glimpse of Michael J. Fox returning to acting after stepping away from his career in 2020 due to speech issues linked to Parkinson’s disease. 

The Apple TV+ series continues to feature an ensemble cast led by Jason Segel, Harrison Ford, Jessica Williams, Luke Tennie and others.

According to an ANI report, the newly dropped trailer introduces Fox in a brief but impactful scene set in the waiting room of a medical facility, where he sits beside Dr. Paul Rhoades, played by Harrison Ford. In a moment that blends humour with poignancy, Fox’s unnamed character asks Paul what he is “in for,” to which Paul replies, “Parkinson’s.” Fox responds with a wry “Just a haircut,” prompting shared laughter between the two.

Ford’s character has been living with Parkinson’s since the first season of ‘Shrinking’. Initially attempting to hide both the diagnosis and the severity of his symptoms, Paul has gradually been forced to confront the disease more openly as the series has progressed. Fox’s appearance in the trailer subtly deepens this narrative thread, adding emotional weight to the show’s ongoing exploration of vulnerability and resilience.

Beyond Fox’s cameo, the trailer also advances several personal storylines. Jimmy grapples with his emotions as his daughter Alice prepares to leave for college, while friends Liz, Derek and Sean tease him for hesitating to ask Sofi out after she drops by his house. Fox’s casting, announced earlier this year, marks a reunion with series co-creator Bill Lawrence. Fox previously starred in Lawrence’s ABC sitcom Spin City for four seasons before leaving the show in 2000 due to Parkinson’s-related challenges. He also appeared in a memorable guest role on Scrubs, another Lawrence creation. The new season further builds on the reunion between Jason Segel and his former ‘How I Met Your Mother’ co-star Cobie Smulders, who plays Sofi, Jimmy’s new love interest.

Shrinking Season 3 is scheduled to premiere on January 28, 2026, on Apple TV+, with the trailer already generating strong interest for its blend of humour, emotional depth and the significance of Fox’s return to the screen.
