Shahid Kapoor is reportedly set to headline a quirky sci-fi romantic comedy, marking another shift in his evolving filmography as he balances mainstream entertainers with unconventional concepts. The project will be directed by Amit Sharma, known for films like ‘Badhaai Ho’ and ‘Maidaan’.
According to a UNI report, the untitled film is inspired by an Italian sci-fi film ‘Husband & Wife’ and revolves around a married couple on the brink of divorce whose lives change dramatically after a scientific experiment goes wrong, causing them to swap bodies. The premise places the couple in each other’s shoes, forcing them to experience daily struggles, emotional conflicts, and personal challenges from a completely different perspective.
The unusual narrative blends humour with relationship drama, as the characters gradually begin to understand each other better through this unexpected situation. While the concept leans into comedy, it is also expected to explore deeper emotional themes around marriage, empathy, and communication.
The makers are currently in the process of finalising the female lead. Kiara Advani and Janhvi Kapoor are reportedly in talks for the role. If Janhvi comes on board, it will mark her first on-screen collaboration with Shahid, while Kiara has previously worked with him in ‘Kabir Singh’.
The film is expected to go on floors towards the end of 2026, with a tentative theatrical release being planned for mid-2027. However, an official announcement regarding the title and final cast is still awaited.
