Indian public broadcaster Prasar Bharati is preparing to unveil its much-anticipated streaming service at the International Film Festival of India (IFFI) in Goa on November 20, The HT report today.
The platform, in development for over a year, will be inaugurated by Information and Broadcasting Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw.
The streaming service will offer a vast array of Prasar Bharati’s archives, including iconic content from Doordarshan and All India Radio.
Chairperson Navneet Kumar Sehgal revealed to HT that the platform would differentiate itself by offering a clean, family-friendly experience. He noted that the service would also feature exclusive content, including live sports, in addition to a variety of archive content in SD, HD, and 4K formats.
However, the industry is a bit wary of the pubcaster’s streaming service. For example, it’s not clear whether the mandatory-sharing list of sporting events be amended to include this digital platform also.
The GT report said the streaming platform will be available on Android and iOS through the Play Store and App Store, and also accessible via its official website.
