Priyanka Chopra, Nick Jonas raise $1 million for Covid relief in India

The country is fighting the world’s worst-hit Covid crisis, every citizen is coming forth and doing their bit as the health system is severely under pressure and the frontline workers are heavily overworked.

Bollywood and Hollywood Diva Priyanka Chopra and her husband Nick Jonas came forward to help India fight its battle against Covid-19.

Priyanka and Nick started a fundraiser in association with GiveIndia to help raise funds for people affected by Covid-19 in the country.

They have been able to successfully raise $1 million. The couple has now raised the fundraising target to $3 million.

More than 14,000 donors have contributed to Priyanka Chopra and Nick Jonas’s fundraiser. The money raised is already being deployed to help people with oxygen concentrators and vaccine support.

Thanking everyone for their contributions, Priyanka wrote, “Through some of the darkest days in our history, humanity has once again proven that we are better together. @nickjonas and I are so humbled by your support and by the outpouring of help for India from so many parts of the world. Over 14,000 good Samaritans opened their hearts and helped us raise $1 Million in these trying times. Countless others helped us spread the world to expedite the process. All the money raised is already being deployed across the country in the form of Oxygen Concentrators, Vaccine Support and so much more. We can all continue to help so let’s not stop here. We’re raising the fundraising target to $3 Million and we know that with your help and support, we can achieve this too. Thank you all for your support and thank you @give_india for the incredible work you are doing on the ground.”

Nick Jonas also shared a post on social media to thank those who have come forward to support them in their initiative he wrote, “Thank you for your overwhelming support. With the combined efforts of over 14,000+ donors from across the globe, we have reached our goal of raising $1 Million to support the people of India as they battle the ongoing COVID-19 crisis. Whether you donated or helped us spread the word, you have proven once again that we are better when we work together, so let’s not stop here. We are raising our fundraising target to $3 Million to continue to provide aid to those who need it most. @give_india #TogetherForIndia.”

Several states across India have been reporting an acute shortage of oxygen and hospital beds, several celebrities have come forward to help people in this hour of need.

Celebrities are using their influence on social media to amplify calls for medical help.

Some are also initiating fundraisers; the money collected is being used to buy oxygen concentrators/cylinders or help Covid-affected families.

Akshay Kumar, Twinkle Khanna, Lara Dutta, and several others have initiated fundraisers to help people affected by Covid-19.
