Prime Video’s October slate brings together horror, thrillers, comedy and new original programming, alongside a strong live-sports lineup. Highlights include the first television adaptation of Stephen King’s ‘Carrie’, the second season of ‘The Terminal List’ and the return of NBA action to the service with Friday night doubleheaders from October 23.
The month opens with ‘Carrie’ on October 7. Based on Stephen King’s debut novel, the series is adapted by showrunner Mike Flanagan and stars Summer H. Howell as Carrie White and Samantha Sloyan as her protective mother, Margaret.
The story follows Carrie as she enters public high school after her father’s death and faces bullying and social-media cruelty while discovering her telekinetic powers.
Season 3 of ‘Helluva Boss’ arrives October 14, continuing the story of Blitzo and the I.M.P. crew in the underworld. Also premiering that day is ‘Love of Your Life’, starring Margaret Qualley and Gabriel Basso as Maya and Charlie in a romance directed by Rachel Morrison.
Stanley Tucci leads ‘Masterplan’, premiering October 16, as a legendary thief who recruits two young specialists to steal the Mona Lisa before revealing that they are his long-lost children.
‘Love in Disguise’, arriving October 19, follows former special forces officer-turned-detective Kang Jae-hee as she protects and investigates a powerful conglomerate heir suspected of murder.
Chris Pratt returns as Navy SEAL Commander James Reece in Season 2 of ‘The Terminal List’ on October 21.
Based on Jack Carr’s geopolitical thriller novel ‘True Believer’, the espionage thriller follows Reece from Africa and the Middle East to Europe as he uncovers a conspiracy stretching from Moscow to Langley and linked to his family history.
The Halloween special ‘Last One Laughing UK: Halloween’ arrives October 23, putting comedians through a contest where laughing or screaming means elimination.
The month closes with ‘Apocalypse Z 2’ on October 31, expanding the post-apocalyptic saga based on Manel Loureiro’s books as a mission from the Canary Islands to the mainland turns into a fight for survival.
Music programming includes performances by Don Toliver, Shakira, Lainey Wilson and Doja Cat through Amazon Music Live and related programming.
The film catalogue for October includes ‘Blade Runner 2049’, ‘Casino’, ‘Creed III’, ‘John Wick: Chapter 4’, ‘No Time to Die’, ‘Rocky IV’, ‘Skyfall’ and ‘The Godfather Part II’.
Newer titles include ‘Now You See Me: Now You Don’t’, ‘Wuthering Heights’, ‘Scream 7’ and ‘The Bride!’.
