The trailer for ‘Citadel: Honey Bunny’, the Indian counterpart of the global series ‘Citadel’, was unveiled in Juhu, Mumbai, on Tuesday. The trailer opens with a dramatic Dutch tilt shot closing in on Varun Dhawan, who stands under sodium lights at night.
The excitement escalates as Samantha Ruth Prabhu’s character is shown placing her daughter into a safe trunk before engaging in intense close-quarters combat with enemies. Viewers are introduced to how Varun and Samantha’s characters are drawn into a spy agency due to their exceptional combat skills, IANS reported.
The trailer features explosive action, high-octane stunts, and edge-of-your-seat excitement, all complemented by exceptional performances and grand visual scale. The storyline follows Varun’s character, who recruits struggling actress Honey (played by Samantha) for a side gig, propelling them into a high-stakes world filled with action, espionage, and betrayal. As their dangerous past catches up with them years later, the estranged duo must reunite to protect their young daughter, Nadia.
Varun Dhawan shared his thoughts on his role, stating, “Bunny is unlike any role I’ve played before. As a spy, he not only leads a double life, but every aspect of his personality has two distinct sides, which was very exciting for me as an actor. His portrayal required me to draw on a blend of experiences and characters, along with physically preparing for the grueling stunts and amped-up action scenes, making it one of my most challenging performances.”
Samantha added, “The opportunity to be part of an action-packed entertainer with a gripping storyline, rich character depth, and intense hand-to-hand combat that rivals international standards is what drew me to this project. The challenges required to bring Honey to life have profoundly impacted me, making it one of the most significant roles of my career. I’m confident that the audience will thoroughly enjoy this series, not just in India but across the many territories where it will stream on Prime Video.”
Directed by Raj & DK (Raj Nidimoru and Krishna DK) and written by Sita R. Menon along with Raj & DK, the series also stars Kay Kay Menon, Simran, Saqib Saleem, Sikandar Kher, Soham Majumdar, Shivankit Parihar, and Kashvi Majmundar.
Produced by D2R Films, Amazon MGM Studios, and executive produced by the Russo Brothers’ AGBO, ‘Citadel: Honey Bunny’ is set to premiere on Prime Video on November 7, 2024. Prepare for an action-packed experience that promises to keep viewers on the edge of their seats!
