The Ministry of Information and Broadcasting has issued a formal notification inviting applications for two high-level appointments Member (Finance) and Member (Personnel) — in the Prasar Bharati Board, India’s autonomous public service broadcaster.
The two positions are equivalent in status and pay to that of an Additional Secretary to the Government of India, under Level 15 of the 7th Central Pay Commission Pay Matrix (Rs. 67,000–79,000 as per the 6th CPC pre-revised scale). Candidates across government, public sector undertakings, autonomous bodies, and reputed private organizations may apply. The deadline for submission is July 12, 2025.
According to the official notice, the Member (Finance) position will be filled by a candidate possessing special knowledge or practical experience in financial matters. The appointment will be made by the President of India, based on recommendations from a committee headed by the Vice-President of India. The selected individual will serve as a Whole-time Member of the Board for a tenure of six years or until the age of 62, whichever comes earlier.
The Member (Finance) will be responsible for overseeing all financial functions of Prasar Bharati, which includes Doordarshan and All India Radio, ensuring fiscal prudence and strategic budget planning. Similarly, the Member (Personnel) will manage human resource policies and service matters within the organization, providing leadership in workforce planning and operational management.
The appointment process allows applications from:
Senior government officers at Additional Secretary or Senior Joint Secretary level.
Executives from PSUs, statutory or autonomous bodies holding equivalent rank.
Private sector leaders with substantial experience in senior management roles in large organizations of repute.
Applicants must hold a graduate degree from a recognized university. Preference will be given to those with MBA qualifications in Finance or HR Management, depending on the role. Experience in public service broadcasting or media organizations will be considered an added advantage.
Government and PSU applicants must route their applications through proper channel with vigilance clearance, integrity certificate, cadre clearance, and certified ACRs/APARs from 2019–2024. Applications lacking these or received after the deadline will not be entertained.
