Audio series platform Pocket FM has appointed Vasu Sharma, a former AI scientist at Meta, as its new Head of Artificial Intelligence, strengthening the company’s focus on building advanced AI-driven storytelling and content creation capabilities. The appointment comes as Pocket FM sharpens its technology roadmap to scale narrative formats and localised audio content across markets.
According to a PTI report, Sharma will report directly to Pocket FM Co-founder Prateek Dixit and will lead the company’s AI research and applied innovation initiatives. His mandate will span narrative generation, production intelligence and large-scale localisation, areas that are central to Pocket FM’s ambition of blending technology with immersive audio storytelling.
Sharma brings deep experience from Meta’s Facebook AI Research division, where he worked on some of the company’s most significant multi-modal and large language model programmes. His portfolio includes contributions to Llama, Chameleon, MaVIL and several next-generation audio-video foundation models, giving him hands-on exposure to cutting-edge AI systems deployed at global scale.
At Pocket FM, Sharma is expected to play a key role in integrating AI more deeply into the platform’s content lifecycle, from ideation and scripting to production efficiency and language adaptation. The company has been increasingly exploring AI-led tools to support creators, accelerate content output and tailor stories for diverse audiences.
The appointment underscores Pocket FM’s broader strategy to invest in advanced technology as it expands its footprint in the audio entertainment space, positioning AI as a core enabler of scalable, localised and engaging storytelling.
