Actor Parineeti Chopra is making her web series debut with Netflix’s crime-thriller ‘Shaque’, which starts streaming on Thursday. In the series, Chopra plays a mother who is searching for her missing child.

According to a PTI report from Mumbai today, Chopra said she had wanted to explore the web series format for some time. She said she had already worked in films and reality shows and wanted to try something new.

Chopra said she had been in talks with Netflix for some time to find the right script. She also named ‘Game of Thrones’ and ‘The Narcos’ among her favourite shows on the platform.

Talking about her role in ‘Shaque’, Chopra said she did not use her real-life experiences to play the character. She revealed that she discovered she was pregnant midway through the shoot of the series. At that time, she was not a mother and relied on the script and director while performing the role.

Chopra said using her personal experience of motherhood during the shoot could have made the scenes more emotional for her. She felt that it could have affected her performance, so she approached the role purely as an actor.

The actor also credited Imtiaz Ali’s ‘Amar Singh Chamkila’ as an important film in her career. She said the film brought renewed attention from audiences and filmmakers and led to her receiving more work.

Directed and created by Rensil D’Silva, along with Siddharth P. Malhotra, ‘Shaque’ is produced by Malhotra and Sapna Malhotra under Alchemy Productions. The series also stars Tahir Raj Bhasin, Soni Razdan, Harleen Sethi, Jennifer Winget, Sumeet Vyas, Anup Soni and Chaitanya Choudhry.
