Director Nila Madhab Panda, acclaimed for his thought-provoking films like I Am Kalam and Kadvi Hawa, is set to make his debut in the world of streaming with the web series titled The Jengaburu Curse.
The show, touted as India’s first climate-fiction thriller, explores the consequences of humanity’s unending greed for natural resources, according to the show’s creators.
Panda, serving as the show’s creator and director, expressed his intentions to raise awareness about environmental conservation through The Jengaburu Curse, PTI reported.
He stated, “With Jengaburu, our objective is not only to entertain the audience but also to emphasize the urgent need for environmental preservation. We are proud to have assembled a talented cast and crew, and we eagerly anticipate taking the viewers on this thrilling adventure.”
The storyline revolves around Priya, who returns to her hometown of Odisha after her father, Professor Das, mysteriously disappears. As she embarks on a quest to find him, a series of peculiar incidents unravel an unexpected connection between the indigenous Bondia tribe and the mining state of Odisha, as detailed in the official synopsis provided by the makers.
The Jengaburu Curse, penned by Mayank Tewari, boasts an ensemble cast featuring Faria Abdullah, Nasser, Makarand Deshpande, Sudev Nair, Deipak Sampat, and Hitesh Dave in pivotal roles. With its unique blend of climate fiction and thrilling storytelling, the web series aims to captivate audiences while shedding light on pressing environmental concerns.
