Netflix showcased a wide-ranging lineup of upcoming anime titles and updates at ‘AnimeJapan 2026’, reinforcing its growing focus on the genre across global markets. The announcements were made during the platform’s stage presentation at the two-day event held on March 28–29, one of the world’s largest gatherings dedicated to anime.
As per a Netflix press release, the platform revealed trailers, key visuals and premiere timelines for multiple titles spanning genres such as romance, fantasy, sports and action, highlighting its intent to expand both scale and storytelling diversity within its anime catalogue.
Among the key highlights is ‘Dandelion’, based on the debut work of Hideaki Sorachi, best known as the creator of Gintama. The series is set to premiere on April 16, with its trailer offering a glimpse into a story that blends humour and emotion, following angels guiding restless spirits to the afterlife.
Another major update came from ‘STEEL BALL RUN JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure’, with the trailer for its second stage unveiled. Set in the late 19th century, the story follows a high-stakes cross-country horseback race across North America, with darker and more complex twists emerging as the narrative progresses. The next stage is slated to release later in 2026.
Netflix also confirmed ‘BAKI-DOU: The Invincible Samurai Part 2’, continuing the storyline based on Keisuke Itagaki’s work. The new instalment will further explore intense battles involving the legendary swordsman Musashi Miyamoto, promising a deeper dive into high-stakes combat.
Adding to the slate is ‘Sparks of Tomorrow’, a new series from Kyoto Animation, set to premiere on July 5. The fantasy adventure revolves around young characters dreaming of an electrified future in a smoke-covered world, with the trailer hinting at a central mystery tied to “The 20th Century Electrical Catalog.”
Fans of romance anime can look forward to Season 2 of ‘Blue Box’, based on the popular manga by Kouji Miura. The new season, arriving in October, continues the evolving relationship between Taiki and Chinatsu, capturing subtle emotional shifts and introducing new narrative tensions.
Meanwhile, ‘BEASTARS Final Season Part 2’ will feature an animated music video for its ending theme “Tiny Light,” performed by SEVENTEEN. The video, set to premiere on March 30, combines newly created animation with the series’ characters, offering fans an emotional extension of the story.
In addition to these announcements, Netflix continues to host a strong catalogue of anime titles including One Piece, Demon Slayer, Jujutsu Kaisen and SPY×FAMILY, alongside upcoming releases like ‘Witch Hat Atelier’ and ‘Akane-banashi’.
