Netflix has lifted the curtain on viewership statistics for over 18,000 titles spanning six months. The inaugural ‘What We Watched’ report, encapsulating viewing figures from January to June 2023, sheds light on both original and licensed content, encompassing a staggering 99 percent of all streaming activity on the platform.
The top spot in this comprehensive ranking was claimed by ‘The Night Agent,’ a gripping spy series, amassing a substantial 812.1 million hours of views, establishing its dominance atop the top-20 chart, PTI reported from Mumbai.
Notably, no Indian show or movie secured a position within the top 20 list. Following ‘The Night Agent,’ the second and third positions were secured by the second season of ‘Ginny & Georgia’ with 665.1 million hours and the Korean drama ‘The Glory’ with 622.8 million hours, respectively.
Other prominent titles in the top 10 included ‘Series Wednesday,’ released in November 2022, ranking fourth with 507.7 million hours, alongside ‘Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Story,’ ‘You’0 season four, ‘La Seina del Sur’ season three, ‘Outer Banks’ season three, ‘Ginny & Georgia’ season one, and ‘FUBAR’ season one.
Netflix also disclosed that approximately 55 percent of the streaming activity was attributed to original content, while the remaining 45 percent comprised licensed shows and films.
Among the licensed content, ‘Suits’ emerged as a standout, accumulating a combined 599 million hours of global viewership across all nine seasons available on Netflix.
This transparent release of viewership data marks a significant step for the streaming giant, offering unprecedented insight into audience preferences and the performance of various titles across their expansive library.
