Netflix is set to premiere ‘Sector 36’, a gripping crime-thriller inspired by true events, on September 13.
The film, produced by Dinesh Vijan’s Maddock Films and Jio Studios, marks the directorial debut of Aditya Nimbalkar and promises to deliver a chilling exploration of power, crime and social inequality, Netflix said in a media statement yesterday.
‘Sector 36’ delves into the unsettling disappearance of several children from a local slum, thrusting a dedicated police officer into a dark and twisted investigation. As the officer unravels the truth, he finds himself pitted against a cunning serial killer in a high-stakes game of cat and mouse.
The film features acclaimed actors Vikrant Massey and Deepak Dobriyal in intense roles that push their acting boundaries.
Dinesh Vijan, producer at Maddock Films, expressed his excitement about the project, stating, “‘Sector 36’ is an intensely sensory film that we felt was crucial to tell. The film is layered, delving deeply into the human psyche, exploring themes of power dynamics and societal inequality. Vikrant Massey and Deepak Dobriyal deliver outstanding performances that elevate the film to another level.”
Ruchikaa Kapoor Sheikh, Director of Original Films at Netflix India, added, “ ‘Sector 36’ is a chilling story that will linger with you long after it ends. Aditya Nimbalkar’s debut direction has crafted a gripping film, enhanced by phenomenal performances from Vikrant Massey and Deepak Dobriyal. This film will strike a chord with audiences, making them think beyond what meets the eye.”
