NDTV has unveiled an ambitious growth strategy centred on digital expansion, artificial intelligence, hyperlocal journalism and new brand-led business ventures, as the company looks to build what its leadership describes as “a new NDTV for a new India.”

The roadmap was outlined by Rahul Kanwal following the company’s Annual General Meeting (AGM) held on June 26, where he highlighted NDTV’s financial performance, editorial priorities and long-term plans across broadcast, digital and emerging media segments.

The company reported revenue of Rs 528.29 crore for the year, reflecting a 13.6 percent increase over the previous fiscal year. Kanwal said the successful rights issue had strengthened NDTV’s balance sheet and enhanced its capacity to pursue future growth opportunities.

Reviewing the network’s editorial performance, Kanwal noted that NDTV 24×7 sharpened its focus on debates, analysis and contextual storytelling, while NDTV India continued to deepen audience engagement through Hindi journalism and ground reporting. He added that NDTV Profit further strengthened its position in the business news segment.

On the international front, Kanwal said NDTV World is being positioned as a platform that will “take India to the world and bring the world to India.” He cited the NDTV World Summit as a flagship initiative bringing together policymakers, industry leaders and experts to discuss global issues including geopolitics, technology, climate change and innovation.

Digital remains a key pillar of the company’s growth strategy. According to Kanwal, NDTV’s digital ecosystem has surpassed 45 million lifetime YouTube subscribers, accumulated more than 102 million social media followers, and generated over 40 billion video views. He described digital not merely as an extension of the television business but as a core growth engine and distribution platform.

Artificial intelligence is expected to play a central role in NDTV’s transformation. Kanwal said the company aims to become an AI-led media organisation by integrating AI into research, newsroom workflows, multilingual capabilities, audience analytics and archive management, while ensuring editorial judgment remains under human supervision.

The broadcaster is also betting on hyperlocal journalism as a major future opportunity. Kanwal said emerging cities, local enterprises, educational institutions, healthcare ecosystems and community networks are expected to drive the next phase of audience and business growth.

Beyond traditional news, NDTV is expanding into what it calls “news-plus” verticals. Initiatives such as the NDTV Art Awards, NDTV Food Awards, Ind.AI Summit and NDTV ProAm are being developed as standalone intellectual properties aimed at creating communities and strengthening brand engagement.

The company is also investing in adjacent categories through platforms such as NDTV Launchpad, NDTV Lifeline, NDTV Datafy and NDTV Automate. At the same time, NDTV plans to expand its presence in the rapidly growing Connected TV segment.

Kanwal said the company’s next phase will be driven by a combination of trusted journalism, technological innovation and diversified content businesses, positioning NDTV to compete in an increasingly digital-first media landscape.
