Prime Video has announced the global premiere of its upcoming action comedy ‘The Wrecking Crew’, starring Jason Momoa and Dave Bautista, set to stream worldwide from January 28, 2026. The film brings together the two global stars for the first time in a full-length feature, marking a long-awaited collaboration between the actors.
According to a Prime Video press release, ‘The Wrecking Crew’ follows the story of two estranged half-brothers, Jonny and James, played by Momoa and Bautista respectively, who are forced to reunite after their father’s mysterious death. What begins as an uneasy reunion soon turns into a high-stakes mission as the brothers set out to uncover the truth behind the death, only to find themselves confronting buried family secrets, tested loyalties and a conspiracy powerful enough to tear them apart.
Set against the vibrant yet dangerous streets of Hawaii, the film blends explosive action with sharp humour and emotional depth. Directed by Ángel Manuel Soto, best known for Blue Beetle, the story balances large-scale set pieces with a personal narrative centred on family, redemption and confronting one’s past. The screenplay is written by Jonathan Tropper, while the film is produced by Jeff Fierson, Jason Momoa, Dave Bautista, Matt Reeves and Lynn Harris.
Beyond its central pairing, ‘The Wrecking Crew’ features a strong supporting cast including Claes Bang, Temuera Morrison, Jacob Batalon, Frankie Adams, Miyavi, Stephen Root and Morena Baccarin. The ensemble adds further texture to a story that moves seamlessly between action, comedy and drama.
With a runtime of two hours and two minutes, the film positions itself as a modern action comedy driven by the on-screen chemistry between Momoa and Bautista. The project is especially significant for both actors, who have previously spoken about wanting to collaborate and finally found the right vehicle in ‘The Wrecking Crew’.
At its core, the film explores themes of brotherhood, masculinity and reconciliation, delivering a narrative that is as heartfelt as it is high-energy. With its mix of humour, emotional resonance and spectacle, ‘The Wrecking Crew’ is poised to be one of Prime Video’s major global releases at the start of 2026.
