Meta, the tech giant led by Mark Zuckerberg, reported the removal of over 21.4 million pieces of content from Facebook and Instagram in India during May.
This action is part of the company’s ongoing efforts to enforce its community standards and comply with the IT (Intermediary Guidelines and Digital Media Ethics Code) Rules, 2021.
According to TOI, Meta revealed that it had taken down 15.6 million pieces of content across 13 policies on Facebook and an additional 5.8 million pieces of content across 12 policies on Instagram. These actions were taken against posts, photos, videos, and comments that violated company policies.
“We measure the number of pieces of content (such as posts, photos, videos, or comments) we take action for going against our standards,” Meta stated in its report.
