Actor McKenna Grace has joined Netflix’s upcoming live-action ‘Scooby-Doo’ series, taking on the role of a young Daphne Blake in what is expected to be a fresh take on the popular mystery franchise. The eight-episode show marks a major revival of the iconic story, focusing on the early journey of the Mystery Inc. gang.
According to a PTI report, the series, which was announced by the streaming platform in 2025, is being developed as a modern reimagining of the widely loved cartoon franchise. The show will explore how the members of Mystery Inc. first met and trace the origins of their friendship, offering audiences a new perspective on the beloved characters.
Grace is no stranger to the franchise, having previously voiced a young Daphne in the animated film ‘Scoob!’ (2020). Her association with the character had earlier extended to the prequel ‘Scoob! Holiday Haunt,’ where she was set to reprise the role. However, the project was later shelved by Warner Bros. Discovery as part of broader cost-cutting measures.
The new live-action adaptation is expected to blend nostalgia with contemporary storytelling, revisiting the world of mystery-solving adventures that has entertained generations. By focusing on the formative years of the Mystery Inc. team, the series aims to deepen the backstories of its central characters while introducing the franchise to a new generation of viewers.
With Grace stepping into the role of Daphne Blake, the upcoming series has generated considerable interest among fans of the long-running franchise, as Netflix continues to expand its slate of high-profile adaptations based on globally recognised entertainment properties.
