The film takes an intimate look at McCartney’s extraordinary creative journey following the breakup of The Beatles and the formation of Wings with his wife, Linda McCartney.
According to a Prime Video press release, ‘Man on the Run’ is directed by Academy Award winner Morgan Neville, known for his acclaimed documentaries ‘20 Feet from Stardom’ and ‘Won’t You Be My Neighbor?’.
The film delves deep into McCartney’s solo years, capturing his challenges, reinvention, and musical evolution as he worked to define a new decade through his art. Featuring unprecedented access to unseen footage and rare archival materials, the documentary offers an emotional and raw portrayal of one of the most influential artists of all time.
Produced by Tremolo in association with MPL and Polygram Entertainment, ‘Man on the Run’ will first release in select theaters before its global streaming debut on Prime Video across more than 240 countries and territories.
The production team includes Morgan Neville, Chloe Simmons, and Meghan Walsh for Tremolo; Scott Rodger and Ben Chappell for MPL; and Michele Anthony and David Blackman for Polygram Entertainment. The film is executive produced by Caitrin Rogers and Paul McCartney himself.
The documentary also marks the centerpiece of a new year-long partnership between Paul McCartney, Universal Music Group, and Amazon, encompassing exclusive music, merchandise drops, and commentary from McCartney.
The collaboration will see new releases on Amazon Music, special merchandise available on McCartney’s official Amazon store, and fresh content coinciding with the launch of his upcoming book ‘Wings: The Story of a Band on the Run’, out November 4.
Additionally, ‘WINGS’, the definitive self-titled music collection, will be available on streaming platforms and limited-edition vinyl from November 7.
