Prime Video has unveiled the official teaser trailer and exclusive first-look images of ‘Elle’, the upcoming prequel series to the popular Legally Blonde franchise. The coming-of-age drama, which explores the teenage years of Elle Woods long before Harvard and courtroom battles, is set to premiere globally on July 1 across more than 240 countries and territories.
According to a Prime Video press release, the series has already secured a second season ahead of its debut, signalling strong confidence in the project from the platform and producers. Produced by Amazon MGM Studios in association with Hello Sunshine, the series takes audiences back to 1995, where a young Elle Woods navigates the ups and downs of high school life, friendships, romance, and self-discovery.
The show traces the early journey of Elle Woods, a character made iconic by Reese Witherspoon in the original film franchise. This time, newcomer Lexi Minetree steps into the lead role, portraying Elle during her formative years. The story focuses on how her experiences at school and her close relationship with her mother shape the confident and determined woman audiences later come to know.
The series has been created by Laura Kittrell, who also serves as co-showrunner and executive producer alongside Caroline Dries. Reese Witherspoon, whose portrayal of Elle Woods became a pop culture phenomenon, is attached as executive producer through Hello Sunshine.
The cast also includes June Diane Raphael as Elle’s mother Eva and Tom Everett Scott as her father Wyatt, along with several young actors playing classmates and recurring characters central to Elle’s teenage years.
Directed by Jason Moore for the opening episodes, ‘Elle’ promises a nostalgic return to the colourful and energetic world associated with the franchise, while introducing a younger perspective on the beloved character’s journey. With the teaser already generating excitement online, the series is expected to attract both longtime fans of ‘Legally Blonde’ and younger viewers discovering Elle Woods for the first time.
