In what promises to be one of the most nostalgic comebacks in Indian television history, JioStar has officially announced the return of the iconic daily soap ‘Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Th’i.

The new season is set to premiere on July 29 at 10.30pm, airing on Star Plus and streaming simultaneously on JioHotstar. The announcement marks the 25th anniversary of the original series that transformed Indian primetime TV and gave birth to the now-ubiquitous ‘saas-bahu’ genre.

According to an IANS report, the new chapter of ‘Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi’ aims to rekindle the emotional connect the show once had with millions of households across the country. Originally aired between 2000 and 2008, the series was a cultural juggernaut, spanning 1,800+ episodes and earning record-breaking TRPs. It wasn’t just television—it was a phenomenon that brought families together and even shaped dinner-time schedules around the nation.

At the heart of its success was Smriti Irani’s unforgettable portrayal of Tulsi Virani, a character who became a symbol of strength, sacrifice, and sanskaar for an entire generation. Irani’s powerful screen presence not only earned her massive fandom but also laid the foundation for her transition into public life. Today, she serves as Union Minister for Women & Child Development and Textiles—yet her return to the small screen shows that her bond with Tulsi, and with Indian audiences, remains unbroken.

In the launch teaser released by JioStar, the nostalgia is palpable. It opens with a modern Indian family reminiscing about the days when Kyunki dominated their living rooms. One member cheekily quips, “Tulsi ji has reached Neta Nagri, she won’t come back!”—only for Smriti Irani’s voice to cut through, affirming: “I definitely will come!” The trailer closes with the punchline: “Because of our 25-year relationship,” stirring excitement among longtime fans and curiosity among new ones.

While details of the storyline remain tightly under wraps, what’s clear is that this revival won’t merely retell an old tale—it will attempt to reimagine it for today’s India. JioStar promises “new beginnings, same emotions”, and with Irani back in the lead, viewers can expect a powerful blend of tradition, drama, and resonance that transcends generations.

As anticipation builds for July 29, all eyes are now on Tulsi Virani—and the next chapter of the family saga that changed Indian television forever.
