‘Sarzameen’, starring Kajol, Prithviraj Sukumaran and Ibrahim Ali Khan, is set to stream on JioHotstar from July 25, the makers announced yesterday.
Described as a powerful and emotionally charged thriller that delves into the quiet conflicts that rage behind the frontlines, the film is directed by Boman Irani’s son, Kayoze Irani and produced by Karan Johar‘s Dharma Productions, according to a press release, a PTI report stated. It also stars Saif Ali Khan’s son Ibrahim Ali Khan, essaying the role of a terrorist.
Set against the backdrop of an increasingly volatile Kashmir, ‘Sarzameen’ features Prithviraj in the role of Vijay Menon, a decorated army officer known for his unshakeable sense of duty and personal sacrifice.
The teaser, which was released yesterday, shows Prithviraj tasked with a high-stakes mission to combat terrorism. With powerful visuals and dialogue, the teaser promises a hard-hitting narrative. His character’s voiceover, “Sarzameen ke salaamati se badhkar mere liye kuch bhi nahi (There’s nothing more important than the safety of the land)”, highlights the film’s core theme of sacrifice and duty. Kajol plays his wife, portraying a character caught in the emotional turmoil of war and family.
Irani, making his feature directorial debut with the film said, “‘Sarzameen’ will always hold a special place in my heart, not just because it marks my first feature film as a director, but because it gave me the chance to tell a story that is both deeply intimate and profoundly intense. I’m incredibly thankful to Karan, Apoorva and the entire Dharma family for placing their trust in me.”
