JioHotstar has strengthened its product, engineering and technology leadership as it sharpens its focus on AI-led, personalised streaming experiences at scale.
The platform has brought on board a clutch of senior executives from leading consumer internet and fintech companies, signalling its intent to build deeper capabilities across discovery, viewer experience, marketing intelligence and platform engineering.
According to a JioHotstar press release, the latest appointments are aimed at laying the foundation for the platform’s next phase of growth, as streaming increasingly moves towards intelligent, responsive and personalised user experiences. The new leadership bench draws on experience from companies such as Google, Flipkart, CRED, Razorpay, Myntra, ShareChat and Cleartrip.
Shrinivas SG has joined as Senior Vice President – Discovery and Personalisation, bringing with him deep expertise in building large-scale search and discovery systems. During his stint at Flipkart, he worked across search, catalog and trends, and played a key role in developing GenAI-powered conversational commerce, with a strong emphasis on vernacular, voice- and video-led discovery.
To strengthen consumer growth and engagement, Naveen Prashanth comes on board as Senior Vice President – Consumer Marketing. He previously led YouTube Shorts, Creator and Artist Marketing for Google in India, driving brand, performance and monetisation initiatives at scale. Earlier in his career, he worked with McKinsey & Company, advising FMCG and B2C organisations on growth and transformation strategies.
On the engineering side, Abhishek Sharan has been appointed Senior Vice President – Engineering (Viewer Experience). With over 15 years of experience, he has held leadership roles across the Flipkart Group and Myntra, working on high-traffic platforms spanning search, recommendations, applications, advertising systems and trust and safety. Most recently, he served as Head of Engineering at SuperMoney.
Advertising and monetisation technology capabilities have been further strengthened with the appointment of Abhishek Varshney as Principal Engineer – AdTech. Varshney joins from CRED, where he spent nearly five years building products across payments, ordering and financial engineering. His earlier experience includes roles at Razorpay and Flipkart, where he worked on application and infrastructure platforms.
The product and platform engineering teams have also been reinforced with the addition of Chandramauli Singh and Nishant Paliwal, who bring experience from ShareChat and Cleartrip respectively. Their backgrounds include building recommendation systems, scalable platform architectures and engagement frameworks for large consumer-facing products.
These appointments follow earlier leadership additions, including David Zakkam, who joined to lead analytics and data strategy, driving data-led decision-making across the platform. The broader JioStar Group has also recently appointed Emmy Award-winner Stephen Bugaj as Senior Vice President – GenAI Content & Technology, underlining its focus on intelligent content pipelines and scalable creative frameworks.
With this expanded leadership bench, JioHotstar is positioning itself to support its next stage of growth, as competition intensifies and audiences increasingly expect personalised, high-quality and intelligent streaming experiences.
