The much-awaited sequel to ‘Superman’ finally has a title and a release date. Filmmaker and DC Studios co-chief James Gunn announced that the new film, starring David Corenswet as the Man of Steel, will be called ‘Man of Tomorrow’ and will open in US theatres on July 9, 2027.
According to a PTI report, Gunn, who directed Corenswet in this year’s summer blockbuster ‘Superman’, revealed the update on social media platform X. Sharing a classic comic-book panel featuring Superman alongside his arch-nemesis Lex Luthor in his iconic warsuit, the director simply wrote: “Man of Tomorrow. In theatres July 9, 2027.”
The announcement has sparked fresh excitement among fans of the DC Universe, who have been waiting eagerly for updates on the next chapter of Superman’s journey. The title itself is a nod to one of the superhero’s long-running monikers from the comics, underscoring the studio’s promise of blending legacy with a modern reimagining.
With Corenswet’s debut as Clark Kent earning praise earlier this year, expectations are high for the sequel. Though plot details are being kept tightly under wraps, the reveal of Lex Luthor in Gunn’s post hints at the return of one of Superman’s most formidable adversaries in the new film.
‘Man of Tomorrow’ marks the latest step in Gunn’s ambitious revamp of DC’s cinematic universe, which is seeking to balance fresh storytelling with respect for its comic-book heritage.
