A long-unreleased film featuring Irrfan Khan has finally found its audience, with ‘The Last Tenant’ making its debut on YouTube more than two decades after it was completed.
According to a PTI report, the 43-minute film, originally completed in 2000, has been released on the YouTube channel of The Salt Inc as a tribute to the late actor on his sixth death anniversary on April 29. The release offers viewers a rare glimpse of Irrfan Khan’s early work, long before he became one of India’s most celebrated and versatile performers.
Written and directed by Sarthak Dasgupta, the film also features Vidya Balan, who at the time was known for her role in the popular television show ‘Hum Paanch’. The project remained unreleased for years, making its digital premiere a significant moment for fans and cinema enthusiasts alike.
The film’s release not only revives an unseen chapter from Irrfan Khan’s early career but also serves as a tribute to his enduring legacy. Over the years, the actor became known for his nuanced performances across Indian and international cinema, making this archival release particularly meaningful for audiences revisiting his journey.
With ‘The Last Tenant’ now accessible online, viewers have the opportunity to witness the beginnings of an actor who would go on to redefine screen presence with his distinctive style and depth.
