Bengali OTT platform Hoichoi is set to revolutionize content consumption with the launch of Hoichoi TV+, a new hybrid content format that blends TV-style episodic storytelling with the cinematic essence of digital platforms.
Unveiled at the ‘Golper Parbon 1432’, the initiative aims to serve as an alternative to traditional television, catering to an estimated four million Bengali OTT households.
Unlike conventional television, which follows a rigidly structured format, Hoichoi TV+ embraces richer narratives and bolder storytelling, breaking away from familiar tropes and predictable content.
Explaining the thought behind this innovation, Soumya Mukherjee, COO of Hoichoi, stated, “Hoichoi TV+ breaks away from the conventional TV mould, redefining storytelling with richer characters and bold narratives that traditional television can’t explore. It follows a structure closer to theatrical films, cinematic in essence, yet unfolding in an episodic format with regular drops. Unlike conventional TV, which adheres to familiar patterns, Hoichoi TV+ dares to be dynamic, immersive and unpredictable.”
With a multi-episode series approach, Hoichoi TV+ will deliver content on a scheduled but flexible release model, allowing viewers to experience long-format narratives without the constraints of traditional TV schedules. The platform aims to introduce a structured drop model, ensuring maximum engagement while retaining the on-demand convenience of OTT platforms.
Mukherjee further elaborated on the streaming format, stating, “The core format of TV+ revolves around multiple episode drops every week. However, we’re still refining the monetization strategy and may introduce a unique model alongside it. To maximize accessibility, we plan to offer several free episodes upfront — potentially releasing five-six episodes on a Friday or even adopting a structured weekend drop model.”
The episodic streaming model is poised to redefine how Bengali audiences engage with long-format storytelling, offering a fresh alternative to traditional TV serials and feature films. By fusing cinematic elements with episodic depth, Hoichoi aims to push creative boundaries while delivering engaging, high-quality content to a growing digital audience.
With Hoichoi TV+, the platform is not just launching a new format but is setting the stage for a transformative shift in Bengali entertainment, one that prioritizes innovation, accessibility, and storytelling excellence.
