Sony LIV has officially announced that the fifth season of its much-loved family drama ‘Gullak’ will premiere on June 5, bringing back the everyday warmth, humour, and emotional moments of the Mishra family that audiences have connected with over the years.
According to a PTI report, ‘Gullak’ continues to follow the lives of the middle-class Mishra family — Santosh Mishra, Shanti Mishra, and their sons Annu and Aman — as they navigate ordinary yet deeply relatable moments of daily life. Created by Shreyansh Pandey and produced by The Viral Fever (TVF), the series has steadily built a loyal fanbase for its grounded storytelling and realistic portrayal of Indian households.
The show, whose title translates to “piggy bank” in English, first gained popularity for capturing the simplicity, struggles, humour, and emotional bonds within a typical middle-class family. Unlike larger-than-life dramas, ‘Gullak’ found its strength in small conversations, everyday conflicts, financial worries, family traditions, and nostalgic moments that resonated strongly with viewers across age groups.
Over four successful seasons, the series has become one of the most appreciated slice-of-life dramas in the OTT space, largely because of its relatable writing and strong performances. The chemistry between the family members, along with the narration style and realistic situations, has helped the show maintain its popularity season after season.
The return of the Mishra family has already sparked excitement among fans on social media, with many viewers looking forward to another season filled with humour, emotions, and familiar family dynamics. The series has often been praised for presenting middle-class life without exaggeration, making audiences feel closely connected to its characters and situations.
With its fifth season now set for release, ‘Gullak’ aims to continue its successful run as one of India’s most relatable and heartwarming web series. The new season will begin streaming on Sony LIV from June 5.
