Green Gold Animation, the studio behind the hugely popular ‘Chhota Bheem’ and other beloved children’s characters, has announced a nationwide search for new writing talent. The initiative is part of the company’s plan to develop an original animated series for children and aims to bring in fresh, original perspectives from emerging storytellers.
In a press release the studio explained that the open call is targeted at early-career writers and creators across India, especially those who understand the tone and emotional depth required in children’s storytelling. The opportunity is not limited to professional screenwriters, but to students, aspiring writers and enthusiasts with a passion for stories for young audiences. Prior experience in animation is not a prerequisite.
Those selected will have the chance to collaborate with Green Gold’s development team on content creation for the upcoming series. The studio has confirmed that these will be paid collaborations, with participants working alongside writers, animators, producers and directors. In addition, mentorship will be offered by industry veterans within the company, helping the new voices shape their craft in a professional environment.
Commenting on the initiative, Rajiv Chilaka, Founder and CEO of Green Gold Animation, said, “For nearly two decades, we’ve had the privilege of bringing life to characters that children across India have grown up with. But storytelling is not static, it evolves with the world around us, with culture, with how each new generation views life.
“Today’s kids are more curious, expressive, and connected than ever before. So, it is important that our stories reflect that shift. With this initiative, we want to invite fresh voices into the fold, especially those who have never had access to the animation space. We are looking for stories that make children laugh, think, and see a part of themselves on screen. It is about opening up our circle and finding new storytellers who can shape what the next chapter of animation looks like.”
The contest will officially launch on September 1 and will be held online.
