Prominent figures from India’s film and entertainment industry have applauded Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s announcement of the World Audio Visual Entertainment Summit (WAVES) 2025. Scheduled to take place from February 5 to February 9 in New Delhi, the summit aims to position India as a global hub for creative excellence.
The initiative, announced during PM Modi’s ‘Mann Ki Baat’ radio address, received widespread appreciation across the entertainment sector, with numerous celebrities and producers taking to social media to express their support, PTI reported from Mumbai yesterday.
Actor Akshay Kumar described the summit as a “wonderful idea” and expressed hope for it to be a “fabulous global forum” that unites the entertainment industry. Veteran actor Anil Kapoor called the initiative “groundbreaking,” adding that it reflects Modi’s inspiring leadership in making India the center stage for creativity and collaboration.
Producer Ektaa Kapoor expressed excitement about contributing to the landmark initiative, while CBFC Chairman and lyricist-writer Prasoon Joshi highlighted how WAVES 2025 will shine a spotlight on India’s content industry and its immense potential.
Sanjay Dutt added to the chorus of support, calling WAVES 2025 a “fantastic platform for global collaboration,” while actor-politician Khushbu Sundar hailed it as a milestone for the Indian entertainment industry.
Leading producers like Ritesh Sidhwani of Excel Entertainment and Apoorva Mehta of Dharma Productions also extended their gratitude to PM Modi. Sidhwani stated that WAVES 2025 would showcase India’s creative brilliance on a global scale, while Mehta described the summit as a game-changing platform for collaboration and growth.
Maddock Films echoed this sentiment on their official X account, expressing enthusiasm for the convergence of global creative minds in India.
In his address, PM Modi likened WAVES to global events such as the World Economic Forum in Davos, emphasizing its significance as a platform for leaders, creators, and innovators in the entertainment industry.
“The summit will bring together the world’s creative minds to celebrate and collaborate, strengthening India’s position as a leader in media and entertainment,” Modi had said.
