Following its successful ad-tier launch in the United States, Disney+ has revealed plans to bring an ad-supported subscription offering to select markets in Europe and Canada starting from November 1. This move aims to provide greater flexibility and value to subscribers in these regions.
As part of its evolving subscription options, Disney+ will also introduce a new ad-free bundled subscription plan in the U.S. on September 6.
This plan, priced at $19.99/month, combines Disney+ Premium with Hulu (No Ads), catering to viewers seeking a seamless streaming experience without interruptions.
Joe Earley, President of Direct-to-Consumer at Disney Entertainment, emphasized the importance of offering viewers choices and flexibility. He expressed excitement about extending the ad-supported plans to international markets, including Europe and Canada, while also introducing a premium duo bundle that includes ad-free Disney+ and Hulu content. Earley also mentioned plans to incorporate extensive Hulu content into Disney+ for Bundle subscribers later in the year, the platform said in a statement.
Internationally, Disney+ is introducing new pricing tiers to cater to different preferences. This includes the launch of a new Standard tier, as well as a Standard with Ads tier in select EMEA markets and Canada. These ad-supported plans will start at £4.99/€5.99 per month in EMEA and $7.99 per month in Canada.
Subscribers in applicable markets who are already on the Premium tier with no ads will remain in their current plan when the subscription price increases in December. They will have the option to switch to the new lower-priced plans if desired.
The introduced ad-supported, Standard, and Premium plans across select European markets and Canada will provide access to Disney+’s extensive content library, including exclusive originals and a diverse array of titles spanning films, documentaries, TV series, and shorts. Key features such as multiple profiles, concurrent streaming, and high-quality video formats will be available across these plans.
Disney’s move to broaden its subscription options aligns with the evolving preferences of viewers, offering them more ways to access content and enhancing their overall streaming experience. With these additions, Disney+ aims to continue its trajectory as a leading streaming platform catering to a global audience.
Subscriptions to Disney+ and Hulu give viewers instant access to the best of streaming television and film – including award-winning Original content, movies, and series from Disney, Pixar, Marvel, Star Wars, National Geographic, and more and one of the largest on-demand streaming libraries of current and past seasons of hit shows and movies.
Hulu + Live TV is the leading and most valuable all-in-one DMVPD on the market offering 90+ live TV channels, a suite of premium SVOD services including Hulu’s entire streaming library, Disney+ and ESPN+ and viewer first features like Unlimited DVR all included as part of its base plan.
