Krafton India has unveiled a massive Rs. 4 crore prize pool for the BATTLEGROUNDS MOBILE INDIA SERIES (BGIS) 2026 Grand Finals, scheduled for March 27-29 in Chennai. This huge bounty highlights the escalating stakes in India’s premier BGMI esports event, drawing top talent nationwide.
Fans themselves unlocked half the pool — Rs. 2 crore — via in-game challenges, marking a milestone in community-driven competition.
According to a press release from the Korean video game publisher, the prize distribution splits into Rs. 2 crore from Krafton India and an equal fan-contributed amount earned through the Discovery Island initiative, launched January 15, 2026.
Players accumulated Exploration Points in Classic Mode and themed events, hitting server milestones to release the funds progressively. This model fosters deeper engagement, turning everyday gameplay into a direct stake in the tournament’s glory.
Building excitement, the Krafton India Esports YouTube channel recently crossed 2 million subscribers, amplifying anticipation for the finals. With semi-finals underway, 16 elite teams are set to clash in Chennai for the championship. The event promises record viewership, solidifying BGIS as BGMI’s flagship competition.
Karan Pathak, Associate Director of Esports at Krafton India, emphasized the significance of fan participation. “Unlocking Rs. 2 crore through in-game efforts showcases our ecosystem’s maturity,” he said. Pathak noted how BGIS blends massive prize money, viewer interaction, and top-tier rivalries to propel Indian esports forward.
