Streaming platform Prime Video on Monday announced that the third season of its acclaimed Hindi drama series ‘Aspirants’ will premiere on March 13. Produced by The Viral Fever (TVF), the upcoming season brings back the popular ensemble cast while continuing the story of civil services aspirants navigating ambition, friendship and personal struggles.
According to a PTI report, actors Naveen Kasturia, Shivankit Singh Parihar, Abhilash Thapliyal, Sunny Hinduja, Namita Dubey and Tengam Celine will reprise their roles from the previous seasons, with Jatin Goswami joining the cast as a new addition. The series, directed by Deepesh Sumitra Jagdish, will stream exclusively on Prime Video in India and across more than 240 countries and territories worldwide.
The show revolves around three friends — Abhilash, Guri and SK — as they prepare for the UPSC civil services examination in Delhi’s Old Rajinder Nagar. Moving between their student years and present-day lives, the series explores themes of aspiration, failure, friendship and the emotional toll of tying one’s identity to a high-stakes examination.
Season three follows IAS officer Abhilash, played by Kasturia, across two timelines. In the present, an inquiry is initiated against him after allegations are made by ALC Sandeep Ohlan, putting strain on his personal relationships with Deepa, Guri, Dhairya and SK, while also disrupting his professional ambitions amid emerging challenges. In the past timeline, a younger Abhilash, after qualifying for the IRS, decides to prepare for the IAS examination one final time from Mukherjee Nagar, where he navigates new friendships and rivalries.
Manish Menghani, Director and Head of Content Licensing at Prime Video India, said the series has built a lasting connection with audiences through its portrayal of aspiration, ambition and responsibility. He noted that the platform’s longstanding collaboration with TVF has helped nurture the story across multiple seasons and bring its next chapter to viewers in India and beyond.
Vijay Koshy, President and Business Head at TVF, said the new season explores a crucial phase in Abhilash’s life as personal and professional challenges test him in new ways. He added that the series continues to focus on the choices that shape an individual’s journey, revisiting Abhilash’s final attempt at the IAS examination while also depicting the consequences of his decisions in the present.
The first season of ‘Aspirants’ premiered on YouTube in 2021, while its second season moved to Prime Video in 2023. The series has since received widespread appreciation for its realistic portrayal of civil services aspirants and the intense pressures associated with competitive examinations in India.
