Aryan Khan on Friday said he is deeply moved by the overwhelming response his maiden OTT series ‘The Ba**ds of Bollywood*’ has received worldwide. The Netflix original, which marks his debut as a creator, has quickly turned into one of the platform’s biggest recent successes from India, trending across multiple countries within days of its release.
According to a PTI report, Aryan, the son of Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan, admitted that the scale of love and engagement took him by surprise. “The love from around the world has been incredible, with the show trending across countries and filling timelines with reels, memes, and fan theories. What began as my story now truly belongs to the audience, and it’s only because of Netflix that this story could reach homes across the globe,” he said in a statement.
Created by Aryan along with Bilal Siddiqi and Manav Chauhan, the series takes audiences behind the glamourous curtain of the Hindi film industry, showing not just its glitz but also the hidden struggles of those trying to make a mark in Bollywood. The drama explores ambition, sacrifice, competition and the darker realities of chasing stardom, offering a fresh perspective to viewers who are often only exposed to the glamorous side of cinema.
Industry watchers point out that the series has struck a rare balance between stylised storytelling and grounded realism, which may be a key reason for its strong reception. Social media platforms have been abuzz with conversations, memes, and viral clips inspired by the show, with fans drawing parallels between the fictional narrative and real-life Bollywood stories.
For Aryan, who has so far remained away from acting and pursued interests behind the camera, the success of ‘The Ba**ds of Bollywood*’ is being seen as a significant milestone in building his own creative identity. With the show’s breakout popularity, he has joined a growing list of young creators experimenting with Indian stories for a global audience.
The success also reaffirms Netflix’s growing reach in India and its ability to showcase homegrown talent on a worldwide stage. As Aryan himself put it, the journey that started as a personal story has now “found a home in millions of hearts” across continents.
