Netflix India has emerged as one of the strongest contenders at the Asian Academy Creative Awards (AACA) 2025, bagging nine prestigious nominations across multiple categories. The recognition spans thrillers, documentaries, and biopics — reaffirming Netflix’s growing influence in the Indian entertainment landscape.

The nominated titles will now go on to represent India at the Grand Awards in Singapore in December 2025, where the best of the Asia-Pacific region will compete for top honours, PTI reported from New Delhi.

Among Netflix’s line-up, ‘Black Warrant’ led the charge with five nominations, including:

• Best Promo or Trailer
• Best Editing(Tanya Chhabria)
• Best Sound(Kunal Sharma)
• Best Screenplay(Satyanshu Singh and Arkesh Ajay)
• Best Cinematography(Saumyananda Sahi)

The series also earned Best Actor in a Leading Role for Zahan Kapoor, whose portrayal of Sunil Gupta — a man who spent decades inside Tihar Jail — has been widely praised. Kapoor described the nomination as “surreal” and called the role a “once-in-a-lifetime experience.”

Netflix India’s documentary entries also impressed at the AACA:

• ‘Modern Masters’ – SS Rajamoulireceived a nomination for Best Documentary Programme (One-Off).
• ‘The Greatest Rivalry: India vs Pakistan’was shortlisted for Best Documentary (Series).
• ‘IC 814: The Kandahar Hijack’earned recognition for Best VFX, credited to Dipen Bhaskar and Vivek Dey.

These nominations highlight Netflix’s commitment to bringing both untold stories and creative excellence to its Indian audiences.

Tanya Bami, Series Head, Netflix India, called the nominations a “testimony to the diverse range of stories”, celebrating both emerging talent and behind-the-scenes contributors.

Actor Zahan Kapoor credited creators Vikramaditya Motwane and Satyanshu Singh for the powerful storytelling of Black Warrant, adding that stepping into the shoes of Sunil Gupta was “profound and humbling.”

Sameer Nair, MD of Applause Entertainment, which co-produced Black Warrant, said: “These nominations are both humbling and gratifying. We’re immensely proud that Black Warrant secured the most National Wins this year, and we look forward to the Gala Awards in Singapore.”

This year’s recognition builds on Netflix India’s track record at the AACA. In 2024, the platform earned nominations for ‘Amar Singh Chamkila’, ‘Heeramandi: The Diamond Bazaar’, ‘The Railway Men’, and ‘The Hunt For Veeruppan’.

With nine nominations in 2025, Netflix India is not just competing — it’s cementing its place as a powerhouse of storytelling in Asia. All eyes are now on Singapore this December, where Indian talent could shine on the global stage once again.
