Apple on Monday took a major leap into the world of personal AI with the announcement of its new suite of Apple Intelligence features—rolling out soon across iPhone, iPad, Mac, Apple Watch, and Apple Vision Pro. The company made the announcement during its highly anticipated WWDC 2025 keynote, promising a more contextual, personal, and seamless user experience across its ecosystem.
According to the official press note, Apple Intelligence is deeply integrated into the core of iOS 18, iPadOS 18, and macOS Sequoia, and is designed to understand and respond to user commands, preferences, and context like never before. It combines the power of generative models with personal data securely stored on-device to deliver intelligence that is highly relevant and incredibly private.
The new capabilities include enhanced writing tools, priority notifications, smart summaries of emails and documents, intelligent image generation, and a revamped Siri, which is now more conversational and context-aware. The AI system can also understand data from across apps to assist with tasks—like finding documents shared in a group chat or editing images using simple prompts.
Apple emphasized that user privacy remains a cornerstone, with much of the AI computation happening directly on the device through a new Private Cloud Compute system. “We’re excited to introduce a new chapter in Apple innovation with Apple Intelligence, which truly understands you and helps you in the moments you need it most,” said Tim Cook, CEO of Apple, during the event.
In another surprising move, Apple also announced a partnership with OpenAI, integrating ChatGPT into the Apple ecosystem—allowing users to tap into its capabilities through Siri and system-wide writing tools when needed, with explicit user permission.
With Apple Intelligence, the company isn’t just adding AI to its devices—it’s rethinking how users interact with technology. The rollout will begin later this year, starting with the developer beta and expanding to users with compatible hardware running the latest operating systems.
