Amazon MGM Studios and Prime Video, Apple TV, Warner Bros. Discovery (HBO and HBO Max) and Netflix together netted 83 Emmy Awards at the 78th Primetime Emmy Awards, with Apple TV leading with a record 29 wins, HBO and HBO Max taking 21, and Amazon collecting 17. Netflix had 16 wins.

Apple TV’s haul was led by the record-setting comedy ‘Widow’s Bay’, while HBO’s ‘The Pitt’ and ‘DTF St. Louis’ took top honours in the drama and limited series categories, respectively, and Amazon titles including ‘Spider-Noir’ and ‘Fallout’ also featured among the major winners.

The 78^th Emmy Awards were held on September 14 in Los Angeles and attended by who’s who of the entertainment industry.

Amazon MGM Studios and Prime Video said their 17 awards came across six titles, with ‘Spider-Noir’ leading the haul with five wins from 11 nominations.

The live-action Marvel series won for cinematography, title design, sound editing, special visual effects and stunt coordination. ‘Fallout’, meanwhile, collected two awards from 10 nominations, winning for fantasy/sci-fi costumes and production design.

MGM Television also picked up seven awards for ‘DTF St. Louis’, on which it is a production company.

Other Amazon winners included ‘The Boys’, which won for stunt coordination after receiving five nominations, while the documentary ‘John Candy: I Like Me’ won for music composition and had four other nominations.

Animated series ‘The Mighty Nein’ also collected the Emmy for Outstanding Individual Achievement in Animation.

Amazon’s press statement also noted Emmy nominations for ‘Jury Duty Presents: Company Retreat’ for comedy writing, Riz Ahmed for his performance in ‘Bait’, Steven Yeun for voice-over work in ‘Invincible’, and ‘Tom Clancy’s Jack Ryan: Ghost War’ for Outstanding Movie and sound editing.

‘Gen V’, ‘Young Sherlock’ and ‘Heads of State’ also received nominations in visual effects, title design and the movie category, respectively.

Apple TV, meanwhile, delivered its best-ever Emmy performance with 29 wins across ‘Widow’s Bay’, ‘Pluribus’, ‘Slow Horses’, ‘Margo’s Got Money Troubles’, ‘Palm Royale’ and ‘Mr. Scorsese’.

‘Widow’s Bay’ dominated with 14 awards, including Outstanding Comedy Series, acting wins for Matthew Rhys, Kate O’Flynn and Stephen Root, and writing and directing honours for Katie Dippold and Hiro Murai.

The 14 wins made ‘Widow’s Bay’ the most Emmy-awarded freshman comedy in history and the comedy series with the most wins in a single season. It also recorded the most performance wins of any series in 2026.

Hiro Murai, the show’s director and executive producer, became the first Asian winner in the Emmy comedy directing category.

Apple’s other major multiple-award winner was ‘Pluribus’, which collected six Emmys, including Outstanding Lead Actress for Rhea Seehorn and Outstanding Writing for creator Vince Gilligan.

‘Margo’s Got Money Troubles’ and ‘Palm Royale’ won three each, while ‘Slow Horses’ took one directing award. ‘Mr. Scorsese’ won Outstanding Documentary or Nonfiction Series, while an Apple commercial, ‘I’m Not Remarkable’, also won an Emmy.

Apple TV said the wins made it the fastest streamer to reach most-awarded-network status, doing so in seven Emmy seasons.

It also became the first and only streaming service to win Outstanding Comedy Series in back-to-back years, following ‘The Studio’, and has now won the category four times in six years with ‘Ted Lasso’, ‘The Studio’ and ‘Widow’s Bay’. Earlier this year, Apple had secured 89 nominations across 15 programmes; ‘Widow’s Bay’ led with 19 nominations and ‘Pluribus’ had 18.

Apple said its original films, documentaries and series have now accumulated 917 wins and 3,827 award nominations.

In the meanwhile, WBD’s HBO and HBO Max won 21 Emmy Awards across eight original programmes at the 78th annual Emmy Awards, with ‘The Pitt’ taking Outstanding Drama Series and ‘DTF St. Louis’ winning Outstanding Limited or Anthology Series.

HBO also highlighted history-making performances, including Jean Smart’s fifth consecutive Outstanding Lead Actress in a Comedy Series win for ‘Hacks’, while Emmy host Mariska Hargitay won two awards for her documentary ‘My Mother Jayne: A Film by Mariska Hargitay’.

‘DTF St. Louis’ was HBO and HBO Max’s biggest winner with seven awards. The series also earned acting honours for David Harbour and Linda Cardellini, who won Outstanding Supporting Actor and Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Limited or Anthology Series or Movie, respectively.

Steven Conrad won for directing and writing, while James Whitaker received the cinematography award. The programme also won for picture editing.

‘The Pitt’ followed with six awards, led by its Outstanding Drama Series victory. Noah Wyle won Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series, while Ernest Harden Jr. received the award for Outstanding Guest Actor in a Drama Series.

The medical drama also won for casting, original music and lyrics, and prosthetic makeup.

Heading into the ceremony, Netflix boasted a massive 111 nominations across 34 new and returning titles. Ultimately, the streaming service walked away with 16 wins across both the Primetime and Creative Arts ceremonies, an article on what-on-Netflix.com stated.

Netflix’s ‘BEEF’ and ‘Love on the Spectrum’ were among its biggest winners, taking three awards each. ‘BEEF’ won for Outstanding Contemporary Costumes for a Limited or Anthology Series or Movie, Outstanding Sound Editing and Outstanding Sound Mixing.

‘Love on theSpectrum’ won Outstanding Unstructured Reality Program, Outstanding Casting for aReality Program and Outstanding Picture Editing for an Unstructured Reality Program.

‘Bridgerton’ collected two awards, with Julie Andrews winning Outstanding CharacterVoice-Over Performance and the series taking Outstanding Period or Fantasy/Sci-Fi Hairstyling.

‘Remarkably Bright Creatures’ also won twice, taking Outstanding Movieand Outstanding Lead Actress in a Limited or Anthology Series or Movie for Sally Field.

‘The Beast in Me’ earned two Emmys, with Matthew Rhys winning Outstanding Lead Actor in a Limited or Anthology Series or Movie and the series also taking Outstanding Music Composition for a Limited or Anthology Series, Movie or Special.

Netflix’s remaining wins went to ‘Leanne’, which won Outstanding Picture Editing for a Multi-Camera Comedy Series; ‘Sean Combs: The Reckoning’, which won Outstanding Picture Editing for a Nonfiction Program; ‘Stranger Things’, which won Outstanding Special Visual Effects in a Season or a Movie; and ‘The Diplomat’, for which Allison Janney won Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Drama Series.
