ZEE5 has announced the premiere of its upcoming romantic comedy ‘Aankhon Ki Gustaakhiyan’ that’s scheduled to stream from September 5. Inspired by Ruskin Bond’s celebrated short story ‘The Eyes Have It’, the film stars Vikrant Massey and introduces Shanaya Kapoor in her debut role.
The story follows Jahaan, a blind musician played by Massey, who encounters Saba, an aspiring actress portrayed by Kapoor, during a train journey. What begins as a chance meeting develops into a bond built on shared dreams, heartfelt exchanges, and a balance of humour and tenderness. The narrative highlights love beyond appearances, underlining the message that true connection lies in compassion and understanding.
With Zain Khan Durrani in a significant supporting role, the film is further elevated by a soulful soundtrack composed by Vishal Mishra, featuring vocals by Mishra, Jubin Nautiyal and Asees Kaur.
Kaveri Das, Business Head – Hindi, ZEE5, said, “At ZEE5, we’re committed to bringing emotionally rich and refreshingly unconventional stories to our audiences. ‘Aankhon Ki Gustaakhiyan’ is a heartfelt rom-com that offers a fresh take on love and human connection. With Vikrant Massey’s sensitive performance and Shanaya Kapoor’s charming debut, the film delivers both depth and warmth. Their chemistry, paired with soulful music, offers a story best experienced not just through the eyes, but through the heart — dil se dekho.”
Sharing his experience, Massey said, “Playing Jahaan has been one of the most enriching experiences of my career. He may not see the world like others, but he feels it with rare depth — and that really moved me. Working with Shanaya was effortless; our bond brought a natural honesty to Jahaan and Saba’s story. At its heart, this film is a reminder that love isn’t about appearances — it’s about connection, compassion, and courage.”
Kapoor, making her acting debut, added, “When ‘Aankhon Ki Gustaakhiyan’ came to me, it felt like the right story to begin my journey with. Playing Saba, an aspiring, fearless artist, was both challenging and rewarding. Vikrant’s support on set made it easier to bring her to life. I’m really looking forward to audiences discovering this story when it streams on ZEE5.”
