As the Women’s World Cup 2026 shines a spotlight on women breaking barriers and redefining excellence, JioHotstar has launched a special content destination titled ‘Stories Made By Women’, celebrating films and series created by women across genres and languages.
The initiative highlights the creative contributions of women writers, directors and producers behind some of the most acclaimed stories in Indian and global cinema.
According to a JioHotstar press release, the curated collection brings together a diverse range of titles that showcase powerful storytelling and distinctive creative voices. The platform aims to honour women creators whose work has shaped compelling narratives and meaningful conversations on screen.
The curation includes critically acclaimed films such as ‘All We Imagine as Light’ by Payal Kapadia, ‘Sarfira’ by Sudha Kongara, ‘Vikram Vedha’ by Pushkar and Gayatri, ‘Lipstick Under My Burkha’ by Alankrita Shrivastava, ‘The Great Shamshuddin Family’ by Anusha Rizvi, ‘The Namesake’ by Mira Nair, ‘Panga’ by Ashwiny Iyer Tiwari, ‘Chhapaak’ by Meghna Gulzar, ‘Bad Girl’ by Varsha Bharath and ‘Kaali’ by Kiruthiga Udhayanidhi. The collection also features ‘Bombay Talkies’, including a segment directed by Zoya Akhtar.
Taking the initiative beyond entertainment, JioHotstar has also unveiled a series of short films spotlighting women who have carved their own paths and challenged societal norms. The campaign features Hetal Dave, India’s first professional female sumo wrestler, popularly known as Sumo Didi; Shriya Lohia, one of the country’s youngest professional Formula 4 racers; and Anaya Bangar, cricketer and social media personality known for her journey of courage and self-expression.
Each film begins with the line, “Ye kahani hai ek aisi ladki ki, jisne apni script khud likhi…”, setting the tone for stories of determination, resilience and individuality. Through their journeys, the campaign celebrates women who have defied expectations, broken stereotypes and rewritten the rules in their respective fields.
The initiative draws a parallel between the spirit of the Women’s World Cup and the journeys of women both on and off the field. While the tournament celebrates athletic excellence and perseverance, ‘Stories Made By Women’ aims to highlight the power of storytelling and the women who continue to shape culture, inspire audiences and drive meaningful change.
With this special showcase, JioHotstar is inviting viewers to discover stories that not only entertain but also celebrate the voices, experiences and achievements of women creators and trailblazers. The curated collection is now available on the streaming platform as part of its Women’s World Cup 2026 programming initiative.
