ZEE5 has appointed Tejkarran Singh Bajaj as its India Business Head, marking a significant leadership move for the streaming platform as it looks to strengthen its position in the highly competitive OTT market.
Bajaj joins ZEE5 after a successful stint at Jio Studios, where he served as Senior Vice President and Head of Originals. He recently stepped down from the role after spending more than seven years building and scaling the studio’s original content business, The Economic Times reported.
The appointment brings Bajaj back to ZEE5, where he had previously served as Head of Original Content and played a key role in shaping the platform’s early originals strategy across multiple languages. Before joining Jio Studios, he oversaw content development and execution for ZEE5’s original programming slate, helping establish the service during the formative years of India’s OTT boom.
At Jio Studios, Bajaj led the creative, strategic and commercial direction of the Originals business, overseeing content development, production, partnerships, licensing and monetisation. Under his leadership, the studio expanded its multilingual content portfolio and strengthened its presence across digital platforms.
His return to ZEE5 comes at a crucial time for the platform as streaming services continue to focus on subscriber growth, regional content expansion and premium original programming. Industry observers view Bajaj’s blend of creative and business expertise as a strong fit for ZEE5’s next phase of growth.
Over the course of his career, Bajaj has held leadership positions across television, digital media and content production. Apart from his stints at ZEE5 and Jio Studios, he has also worked with NDTV and media agency Maxus, giving him experience across content strategy, production and media management.
The appointment underscores ZEE5’s focus on strengthening its leadership team as competition intensifies in India’s digital entertainment landscape, with platforms increasingly investing in original content, regional storytelling and audience engagement initiatives.
