Ranveer Singh is set to begin shooting for his upcoming film ‘Pralay’ in August 2026, putting to rest recent speculation around delays. The ambitious post-apocalyptic thriller, directed by Jay Mehta, is now firmly in the pre-production stage, with the team gearing up for a large-scale shoot.
According to a PTI report, following the massive success of the ‘Dhurandhar’ franchise, expectations are high from Singh’s next outing, which marks a significant shift in genre. While reports had suggested creative differences between the actor and the director, sources close to the production have dismissed such claims, stating that the project is progressing as planned with the script already locked.
According to sources, the team is currently focused on building a cinematic experience on a scale rarely seen in Indian cinema. The film is envisioned as a VFX-heavy action spectacle set in a dystopian, post-apocalyptic world, with a fresh take on the zombie genre in Hindi films. With an estimated budget of around Rs 300 crore, ‘Pralay’ is being positioned as one of the most ambitious projects in the space.
The story has been written by Jay Mehta along with Vishal Kapoor, known for their work on Lootere. The film is being produced by True Story Films, led by Hansal Mehta, along with Ranveer Singh’s banner Ma Kasam Films, in collaboration with Applause Entertainment.
The project is expected to showcase Ranveer Singh in a completely new avatar, as he steps into an uncharted space with a genre rarely explored at this scale in Bollywood. Industry buzz also suggests that Singh is in discussions for another project with Aditya Dhar, which he may take up after completing ‘Pralay’.
With pre-production underway and preparations in full swing, ‘Pralay’ is shaping up to be a high-stakes cinematic venture aimed at pushing the boundaries of genre storytelling in Hindi cinema.
