ZEE5 (Bangla) has revealed the first look of its upcoming web series ‘Taarkata’, a revenge drama that blends action with dark humour, marking actor Vikram Chatterjee’s debut as a producer.
Directed by Samik Roy Chowdhury, the series brings together an ensemble cast and a layered narrative that explores memory, crime, revenge, and the complexities of the human mind. The first-look visuals introduce key characters played by Vikram Chatterjee, Priyanka Sarkar, Meiyang Chang, and Joydip Mukherjee, offering a glimpse into the tone and world of the story.
‘Taarkata’ follows the journey of an ex-cop who returns to his hometown under complicated circumstances to investigate a mysterious death, one that appears to be closely linked to his suppressed past. As the investigation progresses, the narrative peels back layers of memory, relationships, and hidden truths, connecting present घटनाएँ with fragments of the past.
Set in a world where personal histories and unresolved conflicts collide with an ongoing investigation, the series attempts to navigate the blurred lines between truth and perception. The storytelling leans on psychological depth, where buried secrets and emotional baggage shape the course of events.
The project marks a significant milestone for Vikram Chatterjee, as it is his first production venture under the banner ‘Vikram Chatterjee Films’. It also stands out as Meiyang Chang’s first Bengali-language project, adding a fresh dynamic to the cast.
In the series, Vikram essays the role of Agni, a once well-known cop whose life has taken an unexpected turn. Priyanka Sarkar plays Chhanda, a character who understands death from a clinical lens but struggles with its emotional reality. Meiyang Chang portrays Dodo, a man who sees himself as progressive and modern, while concealing a deeply disturbing and sadistic side beneath his charm.
The ensemble also includes Joydip Mukherjee as Ashok Chowdhury, Satyam Bhattacharya as Bumba Bagchi, and Ayush Das as Tintin, each adding to the narrative’s layered character arcs.
With its mix of genres, character-driven storytelling, and collaborative cast, ‘Taarkata’ aims to bring a distinct narrative style to audiences. Following the unveiling of its first look, the series is set to stream on ZEE5’s Bangla platform.
