Lokmat Media Group has announced the upcoming edition of the Lokmat Maharashtrian of the Year Awards 2026, an initiative that recognises individuals whose work has significantly contributed to the progress of Maharashtra across diverse fields.
The awards ceremony will take place on March 10, 2026, at 6.30 pm at the iconic Gateway of India in Mumbai. The event is expected to bring together leaders from politics, business, entertainment, sports and social sectors to honour achievers who have played an important role in shaping Maharashtra’s social, cultural and economic landscape.
A special highlight of this year’s edition will be an on-stage conversation between actor Aamir Khan and Devendra Fadnavis, Chief Minister of Maharashtra. The interaction is expected to bring together perspectives from cinema and governance at one of the state’s most prominent public platforms.
Instituted by Lokmat Media Group, the Lokmat Maharashtrian of the Year Awards recognise individuals across several sectors including governance, administration, social service, business, arts, sports and entertainment. Over the years, the platform has celebrated achievers whose work has influenced society and contributed to the development of the state.
Beyond recognising individual excellence, the initiative has also evolved into a large-scale public engagement campaign. The process begins with editorial nominations, followed by public participation through voting and digital engagement, and concludes with the final selection by an independent jury comprising leaders from public life, business and culture.
This year’s jury includes Eknath Shinde, Deputy Chief Minister of Maharashtra, along with well-known personalities such as Gaur Gopal Das and Shaan, among others representing different fields.
Speaking about the initiative, Rishi Darda, Joint Managing and Editorial Director of Lokmat Media Group, said the platform recognises individuals whose work has contributed to the progress of Maharashtra across various spheres of public life. He noted that the awards continue to highlight leadership and impactful journeys while encouraging public participation in celebrating these achievements.
Over the years, the Lokmat Maharashtrian of the Year platform has brought together influential personalities from politics, industry and entertainment, creating a forum for conversations around leadership, governance, entrepreneurship and social impact. The upcoming edition is expected to continue that tradition while celebrating individuals shaping Maharashtra’s aspirations and future.
