WhatsApp working on ‘WhatsApp Plus’ subscription

WhatsApp is reportedly working on a new optional subscription service called ‘WhatsApp Plus’, aimed at offering enhanced customization and advanced chat management features for power users. The premium tier is currently under development for both Android and iOS platforms and could signal the messaging platform’s gradual move toward a freemium model.

According to reports emerging from recent beta versions, the new subscription plan is still in the development stage and has not yet been officially announced by Meta Platforms. However, the company is exploring ways to introduce additional features for users who want deeper personalization and improved convenience, while keeping WhatsApp’s core services free for everyone.

The proposed premium tier is expected to focus primarily on customization and chat management tools. Basic features such as end-to-end encrypted messaging, voice and video calls, and group chats will continue to remain free and accessible to all users, maintaining the platform’s core communication offering.

One of the key features reportedly under consideration is expanded chat pinning capabilities.
