Epic live-action adventure, the Amazon MGM Studios-distributed ‘Masters of the Universe’, will release in the theatres on June 5 later this year, including in India, as the popular franchise returns to the big screen. Its trailer was unveiled earlier this week.
Director Travis Knight helms this feature film from Amazon MGM Studios and Mattel Studios. Prime Video’s animated superhero series returns with dangerous new villains and higher stakes, including Lee Pace as Thragg. International distribution is handled by Sony Pictures International.
The film features Nicholas Galitzine as Prince Adam/He-Man, Jared Leto as Skeletor, and Idris Elba as Duncan/Man-At-Arms.
What’s the plot? According to an Amazon statement, after being separated for 15 years, the Sword of Power leads Prince Adam back to Eternia where he discovers his home shattered under the fiendish rule of Skeletor. To save his family and his world, Adam must join forces with his closest allies, Teela and Duncan/Man-At-Arms, and embrace his true destiny as He-Man — the most powerful man in the universe.
The cast includes Camila Mendesas Teela, Kristen Wiig as the voice of Roboto, Alison Brieas Evil-Lyn, James Purefoy as King Randor, Morena Baccarin as as Sorceress, Jóhannes Haukur Jóhannesson as Malcolm/Fisto and Charlotte Riley as Queen Marlena
The screenplay is by Chris Butler, Aaron Nee, Adam Nee and Dave Callaham.
