JioStar has appointed Debrup Ghosh as Director – Premium Sports, strengthening its leadership team at a time when sports content and monetisation are becoming increasingly central to the media and entertainment business. In his new role, Ghosh will be responsible for driving revenue growth and building high-value partnerships across JioStar’s premium sports portfolio, with a focus on delivering both fan engagement and strong commercial outcomes.
The appointment was shared through a LinkedIn post update on yesterday in which Ghosh announced, “I’m happy to share that I’m starting a new position as Director – Premium Sports at JioStar.” The update marks a significant career milestone for Ghosh and signals JioStar’s intent to sharpen its sports strategy as consumption patterns continue to evolve across platforms and screens.
At JioStar, Ghosh will work at the intersection of content, commerce and partnerships, ensuring that premium sports properties translate into sustainable business impact. His mandate will involve aligning brand objectives, audience engagement and monetisation strategies in a highly competitive sports ecosystem, where scale and innovation are key differentiators.
Ghosh joins JioStar with a diverse professional background spanning digital commerce, enterprise solutions and content monetisation. Most recently, he spent nearly five years at Myntra, where he progressed from Deputy Director to Associate Director – Monetisation. During his tenure, he worked closely with leading brands and internal teams to balance commercial goals with platform growth, while responding to rapidly changing consumer preferences in the online fashion space.
Prior to Myntra, Ghosh was part of ByteDance, where he handled monetisation responsibilities in the fast-paced world of short-form digital content and advertising. His experience there exposed him to high-velocity content ecosystems and data-driven decision-making. He also held senior leadership roles at IndiaMART InterMESH, where he advised large enterprises on digital strategy and managed CXO-level relationships with a consultative, performance-led approach.
Earlier in his career, Ghosh spent close to five years at Airtel Business, working on strategic accounts and large-scale deals across connectivity, data centres, cybersecurity and enterprise services. Even before that, stints at Legrand and Godrej Appliances helped him build a strong foundation in sales, operations and market execution across India’s diverse business landscape.
With experience cutting across consumer internet, enterprise sales and digital platforms, Ghosh’s move into premium sports comes at a time when monetisation in the sector is becoming increasingly complex. As sports viewership fragments across live events, streaming platforms and branded experiences, JioStar appears to be banking on his ability to blend strategy, scale and storytelling.
For Ghosh, the appointment marks a step into a high-visibility role within the sports and media ecosystem. For JioStar, it underlines a clear focus on ensuring that premium sport is not only about compelling action on the field, but also about building a strong, sustainable business around it.
