Hollywood studio Warner Bros has officially announced the release date for its much-anticipated ‘Hello Kitty’ film. The English-language feature, based on Japan’s globally beloved character, will arrive in US theatres on July 21, 2028.
The announcement marks a major milestone for fans of the iconic character, known for her trademark red bow and sweet, endearing persona. ‘Hello Kitty’, created by Japanese company Sanrio in 1974, has become a worldwide pop culture phenomenon over the past five decades — appearing on everything from stationery and fashion to theme parks and global brand collaborations, a PTI report stated.
Warner Bros shared the news on its official Instagram handle yesterday evening, confirming that the project aims to bring one of Japan’s most recognizable cultural symbols to life in a Hollywood adaptation for the first time.
While the studio has yet to reveal details about the cast, director, or storyline, expectations are high for the film, which promises to merge the character’s timeless charm with modern storytelling and visual appeal.
