The highly acclaimed crime thriller ‘Dark Winds’ is set to return with its fourth season on February 15, 2026, according to Variety.
The series, based on the ‘Leaphorn & Chee’ novels by Tony Hillerman and adapted for television by Graham Roland, continues to explore gripping mysteries rooted in Navajo Nation culture and history.
As per the Variety report, the upcoming season will feature eight hour-long episodes and will once again transport viewers to the 1970s Southwest, following the Navajo Tribal Police as they tackle a new wave of crime and moral dilemmas within their community.
Leading the cast, Zahn McClarnon returns as Lieutenant Joe Leaphorn, also stepping behind the camera to make his directorial debut this season. Joining him are Kiowa Gordon as Jim Chee, Jessica Matten as Bernadette Manuelito, and Deanna Allison as Emma Leaphorn — all reprising their pivotal roles.
The new season’s storyline revolves around the search for a missing Navajo girl, taking Leaphorn, Chee, and Manuelito from the safety of their homeland to the gritty streets of 1970s Los Angeles. Their investigation soon reveals a chilling connection to an obsessive killer tied to organized crime, setting up a tense race against time.
Season 4 will also introduce several new faces, including Franka Potente as Irene Vaggan, Isabel DeRoy-Olson as Billie Tsosie, Chaske Spencer as Sonny, Luke Barnett as FBI Special Agent Toby Shaw, and Titus Welliver as Dominic McNair.
With its mix of crime, culture, and character-driven storytelling, Dark Winds has been praised for its authentic representation of Native American perspectives and powerful performances. Fans can look forward to another season of suspense, mystery, and emotional depth when the show premieres early next year.
