This festive season, Google is stepping into the spotlight with a cinematic twist. Ditching its usual minimalist style, the tech giant has launched two quirky digital films to introduce its new AI Mode on Google Search, positioning it as the ultimate festive problem-solver.
Conceptualised by Bare Bones Collective, the creative team behind viral hits like GenZ Chudail and Gangoogly, the campaign brings a filmy flair to everyday chaos—just in time for Diwali.
According to the campaign, AI Mode isn’t just a smarter way to search—it’s the chatty, know-it-all companion that helps you plan, shop, decorate, and celebrate effortlessly. Whether it’s figuring out how to impress a disapproving father or finding the perfect outfit at the eleventh hour, AI Mode turns complicated questions into conversational, all-in-one answers.
The first film features a young man trying to win over his girlfriend’s father—the classic rom-com setup gone hilariously wrong. After his decoration efforts collapse like a failed box-office release, he turns to AI Mode for quick, practical tips. A few clever prompts later, he’s transformed the mess into festive perfection, earning both the father’s smile and a new nickname, Festihul Tyohari.
In the second film, the narrative flips. Riya, the “heroine,” enters the scene with a Diwali party look that could rival any Bollywood starlet—all thanks to AI Mode’s fashion suggestions. From outfit inspiration to last-minute accessory tips, Google becomes her personal stylist for the night.
Adding a dash of star power, filmmaker-choreographer Farah Khan and veteran actor Dilipji make a surprise appearance in a meta cameo. The duo trades witty banter as AI Mode steps in to sort out kitchen chaos better than any sous-chef—proving that even festive family drama can benefit from a little artificial intelligence.
Launched as India dives into its most colourful, emotional, and hectic time of year, the campaign reimagines Google Search as the ultimate festive sidekick. With prompts like “how to impress an angry father” or “best last-minute Diwali gifts,” the films show how AI Mode delivers more than just answers—it delivers calm amid the chaos, all with a dose of humor and heart.
Bare Bones Collective nails the tone—playful, self-aware, and unmistakably desi—while giving Google Search its star moment. Because this Diwali, when drama, laughter, and glitter collide, AI Mode is ready for its hero shot.
