Instagram has rolled out a microdrama series in India as part of its efforts to encourage Gen Z users to take creative chances and connect through storytelling. The initiative complements the platform’s ‘Anyway’ campaign launched earlier this year in the US, which highlights Instagram as a space for free and uninhibited expression.
Titled ‘Party of Two’, the series follows the lives of two Gen Z flatmates with contrasting personalities and approaches to creativity. The storyline is designed to reflect how Instagram integrates into everyday culture while motivating young audiences to pursue their interests and share their creative journeys online.
“As Instagram turns 15 this year, we’re investing more in enabling creative expression than ever before. This includes launching new apps like Edits for video creatives, or features like Trials and Reposts. We hope the byte-sized nature of microdramas, hosted on reels, and combined with a storyline that appeals to Gen Z, encourages them to tap into their own everyday experiences and share them creatively on Instagram,” said Arun Srinivas, Country Director, Meta India.
The seven-episode series stars creators and actors Nidhi Bhanushali (@_ninosaur) and Sunakshi Grover (@sunakshigrover). It has been developed in collaboration with creative agency Communique and directed by Samudra Sengupta and Gopikrishnan Nair.
The trailer drops, with episodes releasing every alternate day starting September 4. The content will be available on Instagram’s and Meta India’s official handles.
