International Emmy Award-winning comedian Vir Das is all set to return to the global comedy stage with his fifth stand-up special, ‘Vir Das: Fool Volume’, premiering July 18 on Netflix.
The announcement marks a milestone moment, making Vir the first Indian comedian to release five Netflix specials — each more boundary-pushing and globally resonant than the last.
According to Netflix, the platform described ‘Fool Volume’ as a no-holds-barred ride through Das’ signature blend of wit, wisdom, and absurdity. The special, they say, “reminds us that in a world that takes itself too seriously, maybe being the fool is the smartest move.”
Calling this his most personal special yet, Vir Das shared the unexpected journey behind it. “Netflix and I were about to shoot a special with a different theme. The universe had other plans. I lost my voice two months before that show,” he revealed. “This is a show rewritten in silence and performed without rehearsal across the world.”
For Das, the creative detour gave rise to deeper questions — and funnier answers. “Turns out the voice in your head is way crazier than the one in your throat. ‘Fool Volume’ asks the important question: How much happiness do you share when it comes back? What does it mean for any of us to REALLY use our voice?” he added.
Over the years, Vir Das has carved a distinctive space for Indian comedy on the global map — from Abroad Understanding to the Emmy-winning ‘Landing’. His performances transcend borders with satire that is sharp, heartfelt, and fiercely relevant. With ‘Fool Volume’, he’s once again pushing the envelope — louder, riskier, and funnier than ever.
As fans across the world await its release, ‘Fool Volume’ promises to deliver what Das does best: provoke laughter while holding up a mirror to society, all while reminding us that sometimes, the fool makes the most sense of all.
‘Vir Das: Fool Volume’ streams worldwide July 18, only on Netflix.
